Being Backwards.....

Well, sometimes it works out for the best to do things backwards!!!
It is supposed to work in the china progam that you get LOA, get TA and then CA (consulate appt) and then make your travel arrangements, book your flights ect...

Well in my world I tend to do things a bit differently. I am blessed enough to have a wonderful sister who just so happens to be a total whiz at making flight arrangements for us. Well she happened to find us perfect direct flights in and out of Fort Wayne leaving the 21st of August and returning Sept 6. We put them on hold and waited. Certainly our travel approval would come right???? We were going to get them anyway since it was only 150.00 to change them!!! We waited and waited....

In the meantime, we still were trying to raise funding because we are still 5k short. We had been approved a few months ago for a no interest loan but there were no funds available. Today I recieved an email from The Abba Fund stating that they had 3900.00 that would be available to us!!!!!! What an enormous blessing!!!!!! We are so close now!!! Only 1100 to go! God totally provides for us!!

Then on my way home from work Vickie from our Adoption agency calls!!! Our TA is here!!!!!!!!!!!

God has certainly blessed us so much!!! Our tickets went off of hold tonight at midnight! Not only do we get to go to china....we have almost all the funds necessary to get there!!!!!

I am totally floating. Our wait is OVER! God has perfect timing indeed! We leave for china in 24 days....more details later!

Adoption Shower!

My mom was sweet to put together an adoption shower for me! I actually feel pretty old considering my last shower was 15 years ago!!!
There was tons of stuff that I needed and everyone was so generous! From carseats to sippys, books to bathtoys...they all blessed me beyond belief! My mom totally outdid herself in the planning as well! She had said "just a low key shower Amy, a few snacks, some drinks...just to get together and celebrate your adoption....

IMG_0907
Yeah right...does this look low key to you???

IMG_0908

IMG_0909
She even went as far to find chinese candies and fortune cookies:-)

Look at all the new stuff Sammy will have!

I feel so loved to have had so much support all the way through this adoption! It seems as if so many people have played a huge role in bringing home Sammy in their own way!! What a "warm fuzzie" it is for me!!!! I cannot thank you all enough for all your support, prayers, help, kind words and blessings!!!

Sweet Surprise...

You know, I am still constantly amazed how God takes care of me! I am still "wowed" by all those "God things" that happen during an adoption!

This week has been hard for me. I blogged about it a couple of days ago, so you all have already listened to me whine! Last night still had the same kind of just depressed/anxious/edgy feeling. I was aimlessly on the computer checking email and was responding to an email from my Nanjing kids yahoo group. This mom was all excited because she had just gotten her Log in date for her 3 year old son. Her website was at the bottom of her post and I decided to take a peek...

There were some pictures on there because she had sent a cake to her son from Ladybugs N Love (the same service we used for our orphange call). Anyway....

Cake Arrives

Anyone look familiar?????

I just started to cry...for 2 reasons, one...I have been so anxious to get our TA so we can be there for his 3rd birthday (Aug 11)...Now I know that he at least has had one part of a birthday cake :-)

and 2 because I have been so sad, just seeing his face just totally lifted my heart! I havent seen a new picture of him since April (this was taken in June)

God quietly reminded me that He is still here, He is still in charge and He will always comfort me. What an incredible reminder!!!! I am so blessed...and a lot less stressed! Dont you love his expression in the picture??????

Oh, and before I forget....my dad sent a few pictures of their trip with the kids.

This next picture is equally scary to me though.....

A few of the reasons...

While we have been waiting, many people have asked us why did we want to adopt a special needs child? Why would we possibly want more medical bills, dont we have enough on our plate with Emily?? (Our bio daughter with complex CHD) This is an excellent video made by Love without Boundaries. Please watch and maybe you can understand a bit more.....

Nothing...

ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more

We have been waiting 63 days and still nothing! It has really been quiet around the rumor queen website for anyone waiting on a Travel Approval who is I800. We have seen some approvals trickle in, but they have been I600 (the old system where people travel much quicker)

All our paperwork is approved, immigration has been cleared....we are just waiting...
and waiting....and waiting!!! We have to know by next wednesday in order to travel on Aug 7th. I would say at this point it isnt looking very likely for us.

Evidently the rumors are that pretty much everyone who needs to sign or mail our TA is out sick. I have been researching travel arrangements, but flights are disappearing for the dates that we want to travel. I am sure that Consulate appointments are going to be hard to come by as well soon.

Today I am just frusturated.. I know that it is Gods timing, and His timing is perfect, but selfishly I want to be there for my sons birthday. I dont want to wait anymore. I want to love on Sammy, hug him and settle into our life as a family of 6. I am tired of the whole adoption process, I am tired of not knowing, and not being able to plan. I am tired of worrying about it all. I am tired of sitting on Rumor Queen and hitting "refresh" Or checking my email constantly. I am especially weary of jumping everytime my cell phone rings! I am tired of trying to figure out how we are going to come up with the last sums of money and who is going to take care of the kids, and the pets for that matter.

I am just so stinkin tired of it, just so weary of it all....I know that we have trusted God during this whole journey. He has paved every step of our way, and I know that He will continue to do so. Today I am just simply very very tired....

Thanks for listening to me whine....

Getting Anxious....

Ok, so my kids are home safe and sound....we have loved on them, snuggled with them and now the reprogramming has begun :-)

They havent figured out yet that real life is MUCH different then "week with Grandmom and Grandad life". For example:

1. If you say you are hungry and there isnt *anything* to eat it does not mean that I will immediately run out to the store and buy you what you want

2. If you say you want a snack, I am going to tell you to eat a piece of fruit...not give you a candy bar

3. You do not get to stay up as late as you want

4. You really do have to do chores in real life

These are just a few of the reprogramming episodes today....stay tuned for more :-)

Actually all kidding aside, they had an incredible week! My dad is going to send me pictures that I will share later this week...They went out on the new Sears Tower Ledge...a 1 1/2 inch of glass suspended out at the 103rd floor of the sears tower! He got a great pix of it too!! So with wild coasters, wet water rides, cirque de solei of Shanghai, and Navy Pier they were BUSY BUSY BUSY!!!

As for the getting anxious....There are Rumors on Rumor Queen that TA's have been signed. There is still question if they have been mailed but if they had been, then we could be seeing TA's as early as Monday! We will see....I am trying so hard not to get my hopes up. I know our paperwork was held up and we didnt even get our Article 5 to the CCAA until Tues of last week. Was that enough time to get it into the pile to be signed??? We will see. I am getting really anxious, we are so very close to bringing home our son and once we get that TA it will be a flurry of packing, preparing and arranging!

I am mostly packed for us, but I have to still pack for 2 weeks for 3 kids who will be visiting with various friends and family, not to mention arranging care for the multitude of our furry friends. All the school supplies still need to be purchased, along with the football gear. Sports and school schedules need to be compiled....Whew, I am tired just thinking about it! Tomorrow I am planning on going to the bank and ordering our new money, and taking care of the necessary school supplies. It is going to be pretty busy around here for a while...but will make the time go fast right?

If our TA doesnt come in the big batch this week, then it likely means that we wont get our TA until mid August. I know that Gods timing is perfect, I know that this is His plan for us and He will see us through....

(you just might find me buried in the chocolate ice cream container though :-)

Childless.....

Since our 3 kiddos are currently enjoying activities such as these:

sixflags3

sixflags2

Navy_Pier

along with dinners out, baseball games and junk food galore. It is pretty much no rules for them this week since they are staying with Grandad and Grandmom! My kids are really blessed that my mom and Tims dad both live within a couple of miles of us, but my dad lives in Illinois. So for 1 week every summer (or just about a week) They come and get my kiddos and pretty much spoil them rotten! Great fun for them, we get some alone time...and we will worry about the "reprogramming" when they get home! We are enjoying it this time since the one rule my Dad has is no diapers...we probably wont be completely childless next summer!

It is a tradition that has carried over since I was little and would go and stay with my grandparents! Alot of time Tim and I will try and do a get away as well, but since we have this little trip coming up soon.....

Speaking of which...
We recieved an update on our status from our adoption agency! We have completed the final step in the clearance for our Travel Approval (the baby from the post a while ago...article 5) and it has been delivered to the CCAA. We are just waiting for someone to sign and send this little piece of paper so we can finally go get our son!
Our agency feels that our approval will come within the next week or 2 and we can travel a week later! If it arrives even 2 weeks from today then we are still on schedule to leave Aug 7th! WOOOHOOO We are so excited, working on pricing out plane tix (thanks Ellen) and hotel costs, coming up with packing lists and places to visit while we are there! We cant wait! God is SO good!

Praises!!

I just have to say that GOD IS SO GOOD! We have been so blessed yet again! Last weekend I posted about us recieving a grant for Gift of Adoption....today in my mailbox I opened a letter from our Adoption Agency (Hand In Hand). I was assuming it was something basic, because I wasnt expecting anything...Then I thought well is this by any chance my Travel Approval (like they wouldnt have called me right??)

So I opened it and it was an acceptance letter for a $2500 no interest loan that we applied for back in April! It has to be paid back over a period of 3 years with no interest! What an incredible blessing this is for us! We are in the final stretch for what we still owe! We only owe approximately $4900.00 of our travel expenses left! Everything else is paid for! Woo Hoo! Not to bad when we started this with 350.00! God has provided for us the entire way! It has been so amazing to us to watch this journey unfold and to see God's hand in all of it!

The other bit of news is that someone recieved their TA yesterday with the same LOA as ours....Does this mean that ours will be here next week? One can certainly only hope right? I am so very anxious to go and bring home our son!

Blessings

No news, But.....

Thats OK...

Today the sun is shining much brighter in my little world. I have been just overwhelemed with all the encouragement that has been sent my way! You all have blessed me so much in your comments on my last post!

I have been sent emails from friends who have just been so encouraging. One bloggy friend felt pulled to email me and just encourage me that my son is doing well and she had personally loved on him when she was there a while back. THANK YOU! Another friend was really encouraging about the financials and that God is still in control!

I know that God is here, quieting my heart and giving me peace through the kindness of all of you! I am feeling totally encouraged and optomistic! We will get to China when we get there, the money will be there in perfect time as well. My son is going to be 3 not 10 and has no concept of when his birthday even is....how many times have I celebrated one of the kids birthdays late due to family conflicts? In the grand scheme of things this is not going to matter 2 years from now.

Many years ago, Tim and I learned to focus on the important things. When Emily was going through her open heart surgeries, it was a crash course in 2 things:

A. Trust in the Lord for everything
B. Don't sweat the small stuff.

I am a control freak. Anyone who knows me in real life is quite aware of this (stop laughing Val!!) I dont function well when I am not in control. I am pretty sure that is why God continually is showing me what an illusion that is. In going trhough Ems many surgeries and not knowing if she would survive, changes a person in huge ways! We just forget sometimes to always focus on the positives.

So from now on (or for today at least...) I am going to only think about what is really important, God has control of everything....no use worrying about it! I cant control it, I cant change it...so no use thinking about it. I am going to turn my focus toward God, my family and my friends and try to take the time to be as encouraging toward others as you all have been toward me!

6 1/2 weeks....

Just in case anyone else is counting...
it has been 6 1/2 weeks since our LOA was signed! 47 days to be exact....
Just thought I would remind you all :-(

We still have no word on our Article 5 being approved. It is looking less likely that we will leave on Aug 7. I know that God is totally in control and His timing is perfect, but it is still so very hard not to be impatient! At our travel meeting, Vickie said that we had to recieve our TA by July 29th at the very latest in order to leave on August 7th. We are praying that it is Gods plan for us to leave then so we can celebrate Sammy's 3rd birthday with him!! 22 days left...that is doable right???

I am feeling kind of whiney and mopey (sp?) tonight! I had an incredibly bad day today and although I am grateful for an incredibly supportive husband, I just can't seem to shake it off tonight. It is one of those days that you just want to curl up and go back to bed..ya know?

Anyhoo...I thought that I would share some of the pix from our 4th of July bash at my dads house. The last couple of posts have been sadly lacking in the picture department

Pardon our mess...

Just in case you havent noticed....
I am messing around with the layout and design of our blog :-)
I have registered a new domain name that will hopefully be easier to remember for people. www.faithloveandfamily.com

I enjoy blogging very much and would like to continue once we are home from China. I want the seamlessly change it to more of a family blog and not just be about our journey to Samuel. I also am assuming I will have a heck of a lot less time to mess around with the blog once I am home with an active 3 year old :-)

Since I am certainly not proficent with blog design this is the best I can do...and am pretty happy with it!! Eventually I may get a blog over but right now funds are still short with our adoption costs, so every penny counts!

If any of you bloggers out there have any advice or tips feel free to post them...

Happy 4th of July and an incredible surpirse

Happy 4th of July to everyone!!
What an amazing country that we live in that we are FREE! I so much think of that especially in light of the quarrantines China....and NOT being able to leave...kind of unthinkable here it the US. I am so very blessed to live here!

We are celebrating here with our annual 4th of July bash at my Dads house! We have everyone here including my sisters, stepbrother, my grandparents and of course my beautiful niece! What wondeful family time, I can post any shots right now since I forgot my card reader as well as my usb cord at home :-(

But on to my incredible surprise....

You remeber my last post that I posted July 1? The one about needing prayers...about the grant? I have to say WE GOT IT!!!! WOOHOOO!!!! What a beautiful blessing this is for us! The incredible thing is that I posted about needing the prayers on July 1.....we were approved on July 2!! Well before we were supposed to hear an answer! Thank you so much for the prayers, Thank you Lord for blessing us, and thank you Gift of Adoption for helping us so incredibly!!! They are such an awsome organization!

Mark 11:24
Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

We are so excited! The Lord is providing for us yet again...we are so very close now, and in the final stretch!!! We are still a bit short, but we are confident God will provide these last funds just as He has provided every cent for us so far!

Prayers Please...

We just wanted to post quickly and ask for your prayers! We are so close to bringing home our son but we are still short financially. We are up for final consideration for a grant and we ask for you prayers regarding this. We would like to pray for guidance both for us as well as the grant comittee. We are certain that God will reveal His plan to get us to our son! We just ask for your prayers that He makes it clear to us!!! The grant comittee should make a decision by July 14th.

Blessings
