Mr GQ

IMG_7907 I just love this pix by the way!!

I am beginning to think I have a problem. Every day we are going somewhere, having WAY too much fun! Now I am a thrifty soul... so almost all of what we do are free or nearly free activities! We have a big ole family now, so it makes the most sense to buy season passes to many places if we are going to go more than once.

Today was no different, we headed out to the local hands on science museum (annual pass) and I honestly think that he had more fun there than anywhere else that we have gone so far!! I am foreseeing a weekly trip there in our future. Fun and learning...what a great combination!!

That is when I knew it was time to go ;-0

Busy Bee...

The one thing that I have learned about Sammy is the more tired he gets, the busier he becomes....

Sammy didnt go to bed on time last night (Hmmmm...maybe cause Mama was gone and Baba was doing bedtime????) He woke up about an hour earlier than usual as well. This was not a going to be a stellar day in our household. By 8:30 am I must have said "No NO Sammy" "Dont walk on the dog" "Shut that pantry door" "Dont throw that" and other various encouraging words of that nature ;-)

I also didnt mention it was COLD this morning, windy and just an overall fall day!

By 10 am I was toast with staying here..

IMG_7870
He really didnt care that it was cold....

IMG_7875
He burned off some energy...

IMG_7879
He learned new tricks...

IMG_7885
He climbed through tunnels...

IMG_7886
and went down slides....

IMG_7894
and finally...He got tired!!!!

Naptime was oh so short as well (thanks to a nutzso dog) and the busy boy is at it again. Funny thing that when he gets tired he gets busier, but I get exhausted??? Go figure! At least since the kiddos are home, I am not the only playmate and bedtime is in an hour! Is that bad that I am counting down???

Chinese Laundry??

IMG_7867

Sorry,
I thought that was just too cute to pass up ;-) He climbed right in yesterday as I was working on my mountain of laundry!

We had a busy busy weekend as usual....the zoo, football games, color guard competitions, bonfires and yard work kept us occupied for sure! Who knew weeds could grow so high when not attended to for 6 weeks?? Yikes! Thats what I get for putting it off I guess

We are having clothing issues around here. My little guy simply needs to either

(a.) put on some weight
(b.) grow a butt
(c.) both of the above

Literally, all the pants I put on him simply fall right off. Today we have a pair of 2T pants on that are rolled up to keep them from falling completely off. Serious wardrobe malfunctions going on here. Ideas anyone?? He is just so stinkin tiny still! Today we are going to hunt for a couple of pairs of jeans with adjustable waists otherwise we arent gonna make it through the week! All of his summer stuff fit better...we are seriously lacking in the cold weather clothing items.

Here are some of the pix from the weekend....

One month ago today

One month ago today, I saw my youngest sons face in person for the very first time
one month ago today, I was able to wrap my arms around him
one month ago today, I was able to kiss him and love him for the first time
one month ago today, I was able to snuggle my son to sleep
one month ago today, I was able to start becoming his Mommy!

I cannot believe it has been a month since we finally met Samuel. We saw him get out of the van, holding tightly to the Ayi's hand. He was hidden behind a screen while she got a tissue to wipe his nose, bent down to talk to him and led him to us. He came to us without hesitation. Leaned in for a hug and called us mama and baba. We were overjoyed...he was tolerant. He played with us that day and every day since! He has brought such immense joy to our household! Tim and I joke that every day he wakes up, looks around and just seems so stinkin happy that we are still here!

He has been such an incredible blessing to our family, such a happy tolerant little soul. He keeps us on our toes for sure, but laughing all the while. I have never met a child with such personality!!! We cannot wait to see what he is gonna do next!

He has come such a long way already since we have been home. His vocabulary is increasing at a remarkable rate and his understanding of English as well. We are working hard to get his SN all sorted out and making headway in that area. His gross motor has drastically improved and so has his knowledge of his boundaries.

We have had our struggles, our adjustments and I am certain will continue to do so, but I am so thrilled with all the progress we have made and am so excited to see what is going to happen next! God has blessed us beyond measure!!!

Gotcha day...but we couldnt get him to look at the camera to save our lives.....

Wow...what fun we had at Johnny Appleseed this year! It has been many years since I have gone (the kiddos never wanted too...) but with the added allure of both my mom and my grandma going, Em and Zach thought it would be worth a try...

IMG_1432
Zach was thrilled with his bow and arrow set...

IMG_1433
Em was there strictly for the apple dumplings!!

Taylor was bogged down with homework and Sammy was down for a much needed nap! It was great fun to have just some time with Em and Zach, not to mention my Mom and Nana!!

Ton O' Fun!!

We have been having a ton o' fun here on adoption leave this week! One of my very best friends came over yesterday, and along with the super cute football build a bear, she brought me none other than Panda Express Orange chicken! yum yum yum!! One of my very fav things to chow down on for sure! Thanks Pam!!!

We are also still getting meals delivered to us...and let me tell you, that has been such a blessing for us, not to worry about that ontop of everything else that I have been trying to keep track of! So we have been pretty much set in the food department :-)

Yesterday was also Sammys first pediatrician appt. Now...I love our pediatrician. He is awsome and my kids all love him, but I was DREADING this appt. I knew that it was going to involve some sort of needles..either titers or injections...and THAT was gonna go over like a lead balloon! So I forced myself out of the house and all went very well...at first. Sammy is weighing in at a hefty 32 lbs and is 37 inches tall. He is in the 50th percentile for height and the 40th percentile for weight. Now why is he only wearing 2Ts then??? I swear he looks tiny for three...but my ped was kind enough to point out that all 3 of my kiddos just happened to be WELL over the 40th percentile in both height and weight....(Ummm...think like 90th percentile..or more) So that just might be the reason I am thinking :-)...never fear if he keeps up his eating the way he does, we will be outgrowing those 2Ts in not time flat...not to mention the 3T's hahahaha.

Anyway....The ped was thrilled with the way Sammy looked and was quite impressed with how happy a kid he is and his personality! Of course then he had to go and order those darn titers!! So off we slunked down the hall to the ped outpatient center where my darling son played happily, naive to the fact we were about to totally ruin his day. Actually the nurses there are really really good and used the lovely freeze spray to help numb the area and in about 5 min the tragedy was all over!! Tears were dried, snacks and huge stuffed animals were given (he turned on the charm then...) and off we went... Hopefully we are done with injections till kindergarden now!!

Another of my very kind friends stopped over that night to totally make Sammys day. She is from Taiwan and fixed my little guy a few dishes that actually tasted right to him! Now the boy can eat, dont get me wrong...but I have yet to see him eat like he ate that authentic chinese food! WOW. I think it has inspired me to go buy a Wok. He just listened to her..(she speaks mandarin) and smiled and kept shoveling the food in! I am sure he was thinking "finally...someone who knows how to cook!!!"

Today was one of those perfect weather kind of days....Sammy and I took total advantage of it and spent the afternoon at the park. I was so excited that Sammy didnt go up to one stranger and try to hug them and called for me every time I got out of site at the park! Previously Tim and I were thinking he would just walk away with anyone who had a better set of snacks than we did! So to me this is big attachment wise! Not to mention we had a great time!

swingin 2 He absolutely LOVED the swings...

IMG_7329 Really? Are your feet supposed to be able to touch your chest?? :-)

IMG_7295 Thinkin we are such a big boy!

IMG_7293 Took a while to convince him we dont climb UP the slide..

IMG_7308 Just had to drive the car

IMG_7301 Dont ya just want to squeeze those cheeks??

cheesin at the park Cheesin!!

One more thing...I developed pictures today (half price prints at walgr**ns through sn*pfish) and so I went through all my pictures I have taken since I returned home..12 days ago...and dumped everything I didnt want (hundreds of shots)...and still printed off 292 pictures!!! Do you all think I have a problem??? Or is this one of those crazy things new adoptive mama's do to torment their children? I swear Sammy is going to soon believe that the camera is permanently attached to my eye! Just wonderin!!

Sammy and the Ladies....

Yesterday we were able to go to our very first Nanjing play group! We were so excited to finally attend and I am thinking Sammy was looking especially cute for the occasion!

IMG_7225

We ate, we played...we argued over toys! It was hilarious. Evidently Sammy and Mylee Both have very strong personalities. She would get too close to him and he would yell at her...In Mandarin...which of course she had no idea what he was saying! It was WAY too cute!! Clara and Ava were much more mellow with him!

The theory of getting 4 kids between the ages of 2 and 4 to all look at the camera at the same time is crazy, but we gave it a good try:

IMG_7249

IMG_7251

IMG_7229

Mylee had to get down to pick a flower..the others were very intent on what she was doing....

IMG_7244

IMG_7245

We had a great visit and cant wait to do it again!! Two of the girls werent able to come...Millie and Elsa . Millie's mama was sick and Poor Elsa is back in the hospital due to side effects from her chemotherapy. Please remember her and her family in your prayers!!
