Today started out like a monday for sure. We overslept. Zach woke me at 8:15 am. UGGH
So I rushed around, got dressed and figured at worst he would be a half hour late for school. Not too bad. Well...it went downhill from there. Sam threw a fit, and Zach decided he didnt feel well, he was sluggish, and his stomach was upset and his throat hurt.
I decided to cut my losses and just go ahead and call him into school. I am a firm believer that if my kids say that they dont feel well, they dont. Whatever, I am not one of those moms who want to have to pick up a puking kid at school.
Today, however...I think I was played. Big time. I sent Zach back to bed and about a half hour later he came back down saying he couldnt sleep. So I let him watch TV for a bit and eat something. I turned the TV off and he read for a while after that (thats good right??) Well now its noon and I am quickly realizing that Mr Zach is obviously much better. This is evidenced by him running around and wrestling with his brother, and happily doing crafts with us at the kitchen table.
I know I *should* force the issue, make him go to school for half the day, but honestly what is the point? Maybe he just needed some extra mom time today. He is in 3rd grade, and although he struggles with school, he does much better with one on one time anyway. So we have covered math facts...he got his 7's down today and are talking about the history of St Pattys day and making shamrocks. He read for a while and is currently making up his own "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" story with traced characters and everything. We will make some cookies later to work on fractions.
So bad mom or not, I chose to "homeschool" for the day. Call it what you will, but I cant think that occasionally some extra "Mom" time is a bad thing...is it?
