The kids are so blessed to have so many great well behaved friends! We had just over 30 kids total and they did GREAT! It helped that we had rented out the pool so we were the only ones there, but it was really rather inexpensive considering we had 2 partys for the price of one. What a great time all the kids had and although it was quite a bit of work to get ready for, it was well worth it to see them all having such fun.
It was especially important for Zach and his buddies. They had one of their classmates pass away Friday and it has been very traumatic for them all. It was really unexpected and this was the little boy that Zach also sat next to on the bus. We considered canceling the party but decided to give the boys a chance to all get together. Zach understands that his friend is with Jesus now, however since this little boy actually did have a heart defect as well, he has made the connection to Emily's defects and wonders whether or not she will go to heaven now too. We have answered all of his questions that he has asked and is now really not wanting to talk about it. He is going to have to deal with his grief in his own way and all we can do is comfort him the best we can. My heart breaks for this little ones family and their loss. It hit so very close to home for me. I left work as soon as I found out on Friday and just hugged my kids close through my tears. Our king size bed was certainly full of bodies friday night :-) Please pray for his family and His comfort in their grief, as well as for Zach's understanding that sometimes we dont understand what Gods plan is, but that He is always in control.
Hug your kids a bit tighter tonight...
Love,
