At Home in Nanjing...

Whew! We made it! We are finally in Nanjing!! We took a taxi to the train station, then the train to Nanjing and then yet another taxi to our hotel! Those of you who have been here before know quite well what I am talking about when I just kind of shudder when I think of the taxis....really, there are no rules of the road here...everything goes..it is an amazing symphony of motion and it works here...3 lane roads become 6, on ramps become off ramps, people and scooters everywhere! It is terrifying and impressive all at the same time.

The train was wonderful....once we got on it! Our wonderful new friend Earl got us to the correct station, and made sure we got on the correct train, with the correct seats and even purchased seats for our luggage. The ride itself was great and the countryside was really cool! We are entirely grateful for Earl and Sharee...we could have eventually managed the station I am sure..but it would have been totally frusturating and taken about 4 times as long!!

We met up with our guide Nancy and she made sure we were all settled and taken care of...we exchanged our $$$$$ for a huge wad of RMB here! We went to a little market and saw where to get our laundry done. We bought 2 HUGE and 3 normal bottles of water, a bottle of tea, a bottle of pepsi and some snacks for Sammy for a grand total of 3 USD!! Gotta love it! We are unpacked and settling in....We have been in contact with our HIH guide Sandra and she is meeting us at 9:30 am China time to go and get Sammy! I cannot wait. So Monday morning, you should have an update from us with pictures! I cannot believe I am this close to my little boy

I am filled with mixed emotions right now. I almost cannot believe this day has come. I am terrified and excited all at the same time. I have no idea how I am possibly going to sleep tonight! What if he hates us, what if he screams, what if, what if , what if....I want to believe that we are prepared. that we are prepared for any possiblity, but that isnt true. We are relying on God here, just as we have this entire journey. He will help us through and calm our hearts. We just have to trust!

These are some random pictures...I am using both cameras so hopefully they turn out. the train pics came out well considering we were going over 100 miles an hour!!

We will update as soon as we can! Oh and btw..I am able to update using a proxy server. I have no idea how long it will continue to stay open because as they become popular the "great fire wall" of Ch*na closes them down....So Ellen, please stay tuned for emails from me :-)

Oh Amy, I cannot wait to check your blog tomorrow morning. I am soooo excited to see pictures of you and Sammy. Right now it is a little past 8 p.m. which means you are going to be meeting your son in about 2 hours!!!!

I will be praying that this is an easy transition for Sammy, and that God is opening his heart to meeting his parents.

Hugs,
Mandi

Tim and Amy,
It sounds like your trip is going well! Chris and I love your journals. You are describing everything (like the traffic) perfectly. Until you are there, you just can't even imagine what it's like.
You probably have Sammy in your arms right now! How exciting! Can't wait to see the pictures!

Hi Amy, I'm excited to follow your trip to finally meet Sammy. It was exactly a year ago that we were meeting Noah. We looked through our pictures this weekend including the ones we got of Sammy. I'm praying that your trip goes well and that God holds your and Sammy's hands through this transition.
