Happy Birthday Sammy

Today is bittersweet for me.

My youngest son turns 3 today and I am not there....Again

We had just started this process when Sammy turned 2, and while I was sad to be missing his birthday, it was unrealistic to think that he would be home...this post is what I had written oh way back then. I believe that my consulation was that this was the last birthday he would have to spend alone. Not so much....

I know that God's timing is perfect. I know that my sister tried all that she could and spent many many hours TRYING to get us there on his birthday. Being there today was not Gods plan and this has been His plan all the way. I am ok with that...sad...but ok.

I keep telling myself that Sammy has no idea what a birthday even is. It doesnt matter to him if we celebrate it when we get there right??? We can have a big ole party when we are in China....or atleast find a cake!

We are leaving in a week and a half. 10 days....a week from Friday. I am amazed, excited, anxious, hyped, terrified and an emotional wreck all at once! This week is going to fly by with the first day of school, last day of work for 12 weeks, haircuts, color guard practices, football practices....life starting the school year is busy busy busy!

Excuse me while I sing to my little man:

Happy Birthday to you
Happy birthday to you
Happy Birthday dear Sammy
Happy Birthday to you!!

We love you so very much!!!!!

Blessings

Amy

Thinking of Sammy and you guys today. This is not only a special day, but a special year....a year in which he will have a family for the first time, travel half way around the world to his home, eat new foods, experience life and see and feel the love of Jesus from you guys.

I can feel your pain today and certainly understand it, as we nearly missed Kate's b-day. Keep your eyes focused on what happens in a little over a week, to help get you through.

Singing to that sweet boy!!Happy 3rd birthday buddy. We can't wait to meet you:)

Happy Birthday Sweet Sammy!!!
Amy, you know I feel your pain considering that we missed Meisyn's birthday on Friday!! I was sad but I celebrated and found great joy knowing that would be her last birthday without her family!!!! And, we will have a party in CHINA for her!! You can do the same for Sammy...better yet, why don't you guys join in the party with us???? There is another family we are traveling with whose little is having a birthday on the 17th and we don't leave until the 19th. Sooo, we could celebrate 3 birthdays in GZ!!!!

Amy,

My heart goes out to you. I know too well how difficult it was to hope and pray you would be there by his birthday only to be let down. Just think, this IS his last birthday alone. That you know and can be thankful for.

10 more days!!! YEAH!!!
